Bernard Riche and his trio BR3 will be performing for two days, March 20th and 21st, at Bar St-Angèle. And as an added bonus, this live performance will be recorded for official release sometime in June with my production company (Les Productions Orev). Come one, come all, and stay tuned!

BR3 - Tribute to Paul Motian

Friday, March 20th and Saturday, March 21st - At Bar St-Angèle

BERNARD RICHE With over 30 years in the business, Bernard Riche is an accomplished professional musician and composer. He has several albums to his credit. Born in Saint-Denis, France, he studied there under his teacher and mentor, Emmanuel Boursault. He now teaches drums in schools and privately.

He has played with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Michel Donato, Yannick Rieu, François Bourassa, Frédéric Alarie, Denis Mailloux, Adrian Vedady, Guy Boisvert, Steve Amirault, Didier Dumoutier, Michel Côté, Richard Savoie, Gilles Bernard, and Pierre Côté, to name just a few.

He participates in several innovative musical projects, notably with Valérie Milot (harpist) on the album Transfiguration. His latest personal project is an original amalgamation featuring an organ and drums duo as well as several other masterful pieces with orchestra and jazz trio.

2008 saw the birth of his production company, Productions Orèv, which allowed him, among other things, to produce jazz shows on the Quebec scene. Under this label, he produced two albums in different styles: one featuring his own compositions performed with the Bernard Riche 3Trio, comprised of François Bourassa on piano and Frédéric Alarie on double bass: Double Je (2014); and the other, Exploration Bach et Baryton (2015), reinterpreting Bach's cello suites with added improvisations, all played on solo baritone saxophone by David P. Gagnon. It was also under this label that he composed two pieces, transforming them into symphonic works, including "À cordes et à cri" and "Thème," arranged by Thierry Pilote. Having explored classical music through these projects, the door was easily opened for a potential collaboration with Valérie Milot and Stéphane Tétreault.
