''Breath & Pulse'' album launch

In 2026, the jazz world celebrates the centennial of the birth of John Coltrane (1926–1967), a towering figure whose influence continues to span generations. In this celebratory spirit, drummer Bernard Riche and saxophonist Thiago Ferté are releasing their new EP, *Breath & Pulse*, in September 2026. The title evokes both the breath of the saxophone and the rhythmic pulse of the drums—two complementary forces meeting in a constant musical dialogue. Through this work, Riche and Ferté do not seek to replicate Coltrane’s world, but rather to extend his spirit of inquiry, exploration, and artistic transcendence.
This approach aligns naturally with the mission of Orev, the production company founded by Bernard Riche. Having previously produced *Hommage à Paul Motian*—a project dedicated to the legacy of the legendary American drummer and composer—Orev continues its work of highlighting great jazz figures with *Breath & Pulse*, a tribute album to John Coltrane.
The project showcases the driving forces behind the saxophonist’s work: the quest for meaning through sound, deep listening, and openness to the unknown. The album’s original compositions draw on the energy of contemporary jazz while echoing some of Coltrane’s core values: expressive intensity, improvisational freedom, and the spiritual dimension of music.
More than just a tribute, *Breath & Pulse* serves as a musical reflection on John Coltrane’s living legacy. The album reminds us that his work belongs not only to jazz history but remains a source of ongoing inspiration—a call to creativity, exploration, and discovery. A century after his birth, Coltrane’s music continues to invite artists to transcend stylistic boundaries and, in turn, explore the infinite possibilities of sound.
