Rafael Salazar Quintet with Jean-Michel Pilc, Ira Coleman & Erik Hove

Rafael Salazar is a trumpeter and composer on the Montreal jazz scene. A skilled improviser with a soulful approach, he draws inspiration from the masters of Black American music and stylists such as Kenny Dorham and Donald Byrd, as well as Roy Hargrove and Ambrose Akinmusire. He has been mentored by some of the finest musicians on the Montreal and New York jazz scenes. A recent graduate of McGill University's Schulich School of Music, he has also been invited to perform classics and original compositions. (May 2025)
