Carl Mayotte Quintet in concert

Jazz musician Carl Mayotte today unveils his fifth album, Claude. A poignant tribute to the memory of his father, whom he lost in 2024, the album explores a rich emotional spectrum, blending light and nostalgia.

Each composition evokes a memory shared with his father: car rides in Loretteville when he was eight years old, late-night jam sessions in the family basement, and their shared passion for Jimi Hendrix.

This project also allowed the bassist to collaborate with artists from diverse backgrounds: Fred Fortin, an icon of pop-folk-rock; Pierre Rémillard, a key figure in metal; Dayron Luis San Juan, a master of Cuban music; and Pierre-Emmanuel Beaudoin, one of the most sought-after musicians in the indie scene.

He continues to perform alongside his loyal quintet: Stéphane Chamberland on drums, Damien-Jade Cyr on saxophones and keyboards, Gabriel Cyr on guitar, and Francis Grégoire on keyboards.

The group will be performing throughout the region this spring to present Claude, with a tour planned in Quebec, Ontario, Western Canada, and Europe.
