Code Quartet & François Bourassa

Code Red (2025) is the second full-length album from Code Quartet, the critically acclaimed Canadian jazz ensemble. It received nominations for both Juno and OPUS Awards in 2026. The group comprises Lex French (trumpet), Christine Jensen (saxophones), Adrian Vedady (bass), and Jim Doxas (drums). Created during a residency in the Laurentians, Code Red offers a striking blend of hard bop, modal jazz, and cinematic swing—music initially crafted and refined during intimate rehearsals in a chalet, then developed into a masterful studio album.

The François Bourassa Trio features François Bourassa (piano), Guy Boisvert (double bass), and Guillaume Pilote (drums). The program showcased standout tracks from François’s recent recordings—*Number 9* and the latest, *SWIRL* (acclaimed for its creativity and boldness)—as well as selections from the pianist’s solo repertoire, where refined composition meets expressive freedom. The trio also presented new works, continuing Bourassa’s artistic journey, which is consistently driven by exploration and renewal.
